There are days when you know what you need to do, but you simply don't feel motivated to do it.
Maybe you have a goal you have been working toward, but progress feels slow. Maybe you are tired of starting over, discouraged by setbacks, or struggling to find the energy to keep going.
Sometimes motivation disappears when the results do not come as quickly as you hoped.
The Bible reminds us that perseverance is not always about feeling strong. There are moments when faith means taking the next step even when you don't feel like it.
You may not be able to finish everything today.
But you can take one more step.
Here are Bible verses to read when you need motivation.
1. Galatians 6:9
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
— Galatians 6:9 (KJV)
When you have been working hard without seeing results, it can be tempting to give up.
This verse reminds you that good work may take time to produce results.
Keep doing what is right, even when the progress is difficult to see.
2. Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
— Philippians 4:13 (KJV)
You may feel like you don't have enough strength to continue.
But you don't have to depend entirely on your own strength.
Ask Christ to strengthen you for the work in front of you today.
3. Proverbs 16:3
“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
— Proverbs 16:3 (KJV)
Before you begin, give your work to God.
Commit your goals, plans, and efforts to Him.
Then focus on the next task instead of becoming overwhelmed by everything that still needs to be done.
4. Colossians 3:23
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”
— Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
Motivation can disappear when you feel that nobody notices your effort.
But your work does not have to depend entirely on recognition from other people.
Do what you do with sincerity and excellence, remembering that God sees your work.
5. Joshua 1:9
“Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee.”
— Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
Sometimes what looks like a lack of motivation is actually fear.
You may be afraid of failing, making the wrong decision, or discovering that you are not capable.
Take courage.
You do not have to face the challenge alone.
6. Proverbs 14:23
“In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.”
— Proverbs 14:23 (KJV)
Thinking about your goals is not the same as working toward them.
Plans matter, but action matters too.
You don't need to make a huge change today. Start with one practical step.
7. Ecclesiastes 9:10
“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.”
— Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV)
Whatever responsibility is in front of you today, give it your sincere effort.
Don't worry about completing the entire journey at once.
Focus on the work that is in your hands right now.
8. Hebrews 12:1–2
“Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus.”
— Hebrews 12:1–2 (KJV)
Your journey is a race that requires patience.
You may become discouraged when you compare your progress with someone else's.
Instead, keep your focus on the path God has placed before you.
Run your race with patience.
9. Psalm 37:5
“Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
— Psalm 37:5 (KJV)
You can work toward your goals without carrying the entire outcome on your shoulders.
Commit your plans to God.
Do your part faithfully and trust Him with what comes next.
10. Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.”
— Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
Sometimes you don't need more pressure.
You need renewal.
If you are exhausted, take time to rest and seek God instead of forcing yourself forward without strength.
Waiting on God can be part of moving forward.
11. Proverbs 24:16
“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again.”
— Proverbs 24:16 (KJV)
You may have failed before.
You may have stopped, started again, and stopped once more.
That does not mean you have to remain down.
Get back up and take the next step.
12. 1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:58 (KJV)
Consistency often matters more than temporary bursts of motivation.
You won't feel motivated every day.
Build faithfulness into your life so that you can continue even when your emotions change.
When You Need Motivation, Remember
You don't have to feel motivated before you begin.
Start with one small step.
Focus on today's responsibilities instead of the entire journey.
Progress can be slow without being meaningless.
Don't compare your journey with someone else's.
Learn from failure instead of allowing it to stop you.
Ask God for strength when your own strength feels limited.
Rest when you are genuinely exhausted.
Be consistent rather than waiting for the perfect mood.
Commit your plans to God.
Celebrate progress without becoming dependent on constant results.
Keep doing what is right even when nobody notices.
Remember why you started.
Trust God with the results while remaining faithful in the work.
A Prayer When You Need Motivation
Heavenly Father,
I feel tired and unmotivated.
There are things I know I need to do, but I am struggling to find the strength or desire to begin.
Please give me strength for today.
Help me stop focusing on everything that still needs to be done and show me the next step I can take.
Give me discipline when motivation is missing. Give me patience when progress is slow. Give me courage when I am afraid of failing.
When I make mistakes, help me get back up instead of giving up.
Help me work with purpose and remember that my efforts are seen by You.
Teach me to be faithful even when I don't feel inspired.
I commit my goals, plans, and work into Your hands. Give me wisdom to know what matters and strength to keep moving forward.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
One Verse to Carry With You
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
— Galatians 6:9 (KJV)
You don't need to feel ready for the entire journey.
Take the next step. Keep going. Let God give you strength for today.
