The Raising of Lazarus

The raising of Lazarus is one of Jesus' greatest miracles, demonstrating His authority over death and revealing Him as "the resurrection, and the life" (John 11:25, KJV). Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha, had been dead for four days when Jesus arrived at Bethany. Standing before the tomb, Jesus prayed to the Father and cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth", and Lazarus came out alive, still wrapped in his grave clothes (John 11:43–44, KJV). This miracle strengthened the faith of many who witnessed it, while also leading the religious leaders to intensify their plans to put Jesus to death (John 11:45–53). The raising of Lazarus powerfully points to Christ's victory over death and foreshadows His own resurrection, offering hope of eternal life to all who believe in Him.
