Mount Zion is a hill in Jerusalem that originally referred to the stronghold captured by King David, which became known as the City of David (2 Samuel 5:6–7, KJV). Over time, the name Zion came to represent the entire city of Jerusalem, the place of God's dwelling, and the center of Israel's worship. Throughout the Bible, Mount Zion symbolizes God's kingdom, His presence among His people, and His faithful promises (Psalm 48:1–2; Isaiah 2:2–3, KJV). In the New Testament, believers are described as coming to the heavenly Mount Zion, the eternal city of the living God (Hebrews 12:22, KJV). Mount Zion therefore points both to the historic city of Jerusalem and to the future hope of God's everlasting kingdom.
