Judas Iscariot was one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus, yet he became the disciple who betrayed Him. He served as the group's treasurer, but the Bible notes that he was dishonest and stole from the money bag entrusted to him (John 12:4–6, KJV). Motivated by greed and influenced by Satan, Judas agreed to betray Jesus to the chief priests for thirty pieces of silver, fulfilling Old Testament prophecy (Matthew 26:14–16; Zechariah 11:12–13). He identified Jesus with a kiss in the Garden of Gethsemane, leading to His arrest (Matthew 26:47–50, KJV). Overcome with remorse after Jesus was condemned, Judas returned the silver and took his own life (Matthew 27:3–5, KJV). Judas Iscariot's life serves as a solemn warning that outward association with Jesus is no substitute for genuine faith, obedience, and a transformed heart.
