The 144,000 mentioned in the Bible appears in the book of Revelation and has been the subject of many interpretations. In Revelation 7:4–8, John hears the number of those who are "sealed": 144,000, consisting of 12,000 from each of the twelve tribes of Israel. Later, in Revelation 14:1–5, the 144,000 are seen standing with the Lamb on Mount Zion, described as those who belong to God and remain faithful. The number itself is highly symbolic: 12 often represents God's people (the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve apostles), while 12 × 12 × 1,000 = 144,000 suggests fullness or completeness. Christians differ in how they understand this passage. Some interpret the 144,000 as a literal number of Israelites set apart for a special purpose during the end times, while others view it as a symbolic representation of the complete people of God. Immediately after mentioning the 144,000, John sees "a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues" worshiping before God's throne (Revelation 7:9, KJV). Regardless of the interpretation, the passage emphasizes God's sovereign care for His people and their faithful worship of Him.
