God rested on the seventh day not because He was tired, but because His work of creation was complete and perfect. After creating the heavens, the earth, and all living things in six days, "God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made" (Genesis 2:2–3, KJV). His rest signified the completion of creation, and He blessed and sanctified the seventh day, setting it apart as holy. Later, this became the pattern for Israel's Sabbath, reminding God's people to worship Him and trust in His provision (Exodus 20:8–11). God's rest was a celebration of His finished work, not a recovery from fatigue, and it points believers to the spiritual rest found through faith in Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:9–10).
