Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem to fulfill prophecy and publicly reveal Himself as the promised Messiah and King. The prophet Zechariah had foretold, "Behold, thy King cometh unto thee... lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass" (Zechariah 9:9, KJV). As Jesus entered Jerusalem before His crucifixion, the crowds welcomed Him with palm branches and shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David" (Matthew 21:1–11, KJV). Unlike earthly kings who often arrived on war horses, Jesus chose a humble donkey, symbolizing that He came in peace, humility, and righteousness, not as a conquering military ruler. His triumphal entry fulfilled Scripture and proclaimed Him as the King who came to bring salvation through His sacrificial death and resurrection.
