Noah built the ark because God instructed him to prepare for a worldwide flood that would judge the earth because of humanity's wickedness. God told Noah, "Make thee an ark of gopher wood" and gave him detailed instructions for its design and dimensions (Genesis 6:14–16, KJV). The ark measured 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high, making it one of the largest wooden vessels described in ancient history. Noah obeyed God's command completely, even though there was no visible sign of the coming flood. The ark preserved Noah, his wife, his three sons, their wives, and representatives of the animal kinds, ensuring the continuation of life after the Flood (Genesis 7:7–9). More than a remarkable feat of construction, the ark stands as a powerful symbol of faith, obedience, God's judgment on sin, and His provision of salvation for those who trust Him.
