Barnabas was an early Christian leader known for his encouragement, generosity, and faithful partnership in spreading the gospel. His name means "Son of Consolation" or "Son of Encouragement," and he was a Levite from the island of Cyprus (Acts 4:36–37, KJV). Barnabas sold a piece of land and gave the proceeds to support the early church, demonstrating his generosity. He also welcomed Saul (Paul) when many believers were afraid of him after his conversion, helping introduce him to the apostles (Acts 9:26–27). Later, Barnabas and Paul were sent out together on the first missionary journey, preaching the gospel and establishing churches throughout the Roman world (Acts 13–14). Although Barnabas and Paul later parted ways over John Mark (Acts 15:36–40), Barnabas remained a faithful servant of Christ. His life is a powerful example of encouragement, generosity, discipleship, and unwavering commitment to the gospel.
