Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a member of the Jewish ruling council (the Sanhedrin) who came to Jesus at night to learn about His teachings (John 3:1–2, KJV). During their conversation, Jesus explained the necessity of being "born again" to enter the kingdom of God and declared the famous words, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son" (John 3:3–16, KJV). Although initially cautious, Nicodemus later defended Jesus before the religious leaders (John 7:50–52) and, after Jesus' crucifixion, helped Joseph of Arimathaea prepare Jesus' body for burial by bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes (John 19:39–40). Nicodemus' story illustrates a journey from curiosity to courageous faith, showing that genuine belief in Jesus transforms both the heart and one's actions.
