Thomas, also called Didymus ("the Twin"), was one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus (John 11:16; 20:24, KJV). He is best known for initially doubting the reports of Jesus' resurrection, saying he would not believe unless he saw and touched the Lord's wounds for himself. Eight days later, the risen Jesus appeared to the disciples and invited Thomas to examine His hands and side. Overwhelmed, Thomas declared, "My Lord and my God" (John 20:28, KJV), making one of the clearest confessions of Jesus' divine identity in Scripture. Jesus then said, "Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed" (John 20:29, KJV). Although remembered as "Doubting Thomas," his story is ultimately one of faith restored, demonstrating that honest questions can lead to deeper belief when answered by the truth of Christ.
