Mount Zion is a biblical hill in Jerusalem that originally referred to the stronghold captured by King David, which became known as the City of David (2 Samuel 5:7, KJV). Over time, the name Zion came to represent not only Jerusalem but also God's dwelling place, His kingdom, and His covenant people. The Bible often speaks of Zion as the place where God reigns and where His presence is especially revealed (Psalm 48:1–2; Isaiah 2:3). In the New Testament, Zion also points to the heavenly kingdom, where believers come to "mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem" (Hebrews 12:22, KJV). Because of its rich biblical meaning, Mount Zion symbolizes God's presence, His promises, His chosen people, and the hope of eternal life with Him.
