Jesus often taught in parables—simple stories drawn from everyday life—to reveal spiritual truths. His disciples once asked why He taught this way, and Jesus explained that parables had a twofold purpose: they revealed the mysteries of God's kingdom to those who were willing to believe, while concealing them from those who had hardened their hearts. He said, "Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given" (Matthew 13:11, KJV). Quoting Isaiah's prophecy, Jesus explained that some people would hear His words but not truly understand because of their unbelief (Matthew 13:13–15). At the same time, parables used familiar images—such as seeds, farmers, sheep, vineyards, and coins—to make profound spiritual lessons memorable for those seeking the truth. Through these stories, Jesus fulfilled prophecy (Matthew 13:34–35), invited His listeners to reflect deeply, and revealed that genuine understanding comes to those who respond to God with faith and an open heart.
