Why Is It Called "Hallelujah"?

Hallelujah is one of the best-known words in the Bible. It is a Hebrew expression that means: "Praise ye the LORD." (KJV) The word combines two Hebrew words: Hallelu (הַלְלוּ) — "Praise" or "Praise ye" Yah (יָהּ) — A shortened form of God's covenant name, YHWH (Yahweh) Together, Hallelujah literally means: "Praise the LORD!"
